A word from Andrew, the Owner...
When I first started removing swimming pools, I was the only contractor in Maryland and Northern Virginia offering swimming pool demolition and removal as an exclusive service. From the beginning, I made the decision to stay small and owner-operated, a philosophy I’ve stuck with since the late 1980s.

I actually started the business while I was still in high school. One thing I’ve learned over the years in the construction industry is that no one pays attention to the details quite like the owner. That hands-on approach makes a real difference, and it’s something homeowners notice and appreciate.

Most clients prefer knowing their project is being managed directly by the person who built the company—and that’s exactly how we continue to operate today.
Swimming pool removal and demolition can feel intimidating for a lot of property owners. But I’ve found that once people take the time to talk through their project with me, there’s usually a sense of relief. They can see the pride I take in my work and the integrity behind how I run my swimming pool removal company.

I have a pretty old-school business mentality—it’s simple: be upfront, be honest, and do what you say you’re going to do. I believe strongly in clear, transparent communication, and you’ll always know exactly what’s happening with your project.

That same philosophy carries over into our contracts. Clients appreciate knowing exactly what’s included, what I’m responsible for, and what the property owner is responsible for. My contracts are detailed and straightforward. There are no hidden costs. If, for the rare reason, additional fill soil or topsoil is needed, the cost is clearly outlined. If an extra load of rubble ever needs to be hauled away, that cost is spelled out as well—no surprises.

I truly enjoy what I do. I’m friendly, quality-focused, and I take pride in educating homeowners about the pool removal process so they feel confident every step of the way.

So, why use Pools Removed?

We’re incredibly proud of the work we do and the reputation we’ve built. Over the years, we’ve successfully demolished and removed more than 1,000 swimming pools, refining every step of our process—from demolition to proper backfill and compaction.

That experience is what allows us to take on projects with tight access, limited space, and challenging site conditions. Our pool demolition process isn’t theoretical. It’s been developed, tested, and proven in the real world over decades of hands-on work. Every technique we use is the result of experience, not guesswork.

When you work with us, you work directly with me—from the initial phone call through the completion of your project. I’m hands-on and onsite from start to finish, making sure every detail is handled the right way. That approach allows me to provide the kind of personalized service I believe homeowners deserve.

Communication, transparency, and customer service aren’t just words I put on a website because they sound good. They’re the foundation of how I run my company. I believe strongly in keeping clients informed, answering questions honestly, and making sure there are no surprises along the way.

That level of personal attention is intentional, and it’s something I take a lot of pride in.
It’s no secret that just about anyone with a loader can fill in an old pool. What makes the difference is how the job is done. Pool removal is our primary work, and it’s something we perform successfully job after job.

Unless special circumstances require it, I don’t bring oversized, heavy equipment onto your property. The equipment I use to break up and backfill a swimming pool is carefully selected based on your site conditions—not convenience. I’m mindful of what’s under your yard, including water lines, sewer lines, and curbing, and I avoid driving 60,000-plus-pound dump trucks across areas that simply aren’t meant to handle that kind of weight.

My approach is about doing the job correctly and responsibly, while respecting your property every step of the way.
Over the years, I’ve built a reliable network of fill material suppliers, which means your project won’t come to a standstill halfway through because we’re scrambling to find more material. When we start a job, we’re prepared to finish it.

I’ve also developed a fine-tuned system for how we operate. In most cases, once I receive emailed photos of your property and the existing swimming pool or tennis court, I’m able to provide a detailed, written proposal within 24 to 48 hours.

Swimming pool and tennis court removal is our specialty. The systems I’ve put in place are designed to make the process as easy and straightforward as possible for the people we work with—from estimating, to the written proposal, to the execution and completion of the project.

State Licensed Contractor

Both Maryland and Virginia state laws require that any person removing or demolishing a swimming pool in the commission of commerce to be a state licensed contractor. Outdoor Finishes is a licensed contractor individually in Maryland and in Virginia. Furthermore, a contractor removing or demolishing a swimming pool in the state of Virginia must also have the special classification of “POL” on their Virginia contractor license. Outdoor Finishes corresponding state license number is provided on the proposal that you receive. DO NOT HIRE AN UNLICENSED CONTRACTOR, THIS IS FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION.
